Dust CapTypes

Plug type dust caps are used to protect jack connectors, and jack type caps are used to protect plugs. Most have internal gaskets for weatherproofing.

Many dust caps are available with either an economical brass bead chain or a high-strength steel safety chain (see illustration).

Chains can be terminated with a large-diameter eyelet for use with cable connectors or bulkhead mounted connectors, or a small-diameter eyelet for use with panel mounted connectors.

Shorting types have an internal contact that shorts the signal to the connector shell.
